Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2 years of cardiac ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting
  • Patient ratios of approximately 1:1-2
  • 13-week assignment on night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
  • 36 hours per week
  • Weekday and weekend coverage required, up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Friday/Saturday for night shift)
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • 2 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Proficiency in Epic charting system required
  • Skilled in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz catheters, conscious sedation, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and PA line management
  • Experience with arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in chest tube assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, care of ventilated patients, and interpretation of ABGs
  • Experience managing post cardiac surgery patients, including those directly from the OR
  • Skilled in CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and VAD (LVAD/RVAD) patient care
  • Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and acute/chronic renal failure management
  • Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and continuous IV sedation
  • Experience with cardiac dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and obtaining 12-lead EKGs
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular ICU patients, including pre/post cardiac catheterization and post-surgical cases
  • Support nurse-driven protocols and collaborate with a multidisciplinary cardiovascular care team
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any of its hospital locations
  • First-time travelers not specifically addressed for this position
