Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring CVICU experience and OH or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) setting within a teaching hospital
• Care for post-cardiac surgery, CABG, TAVR, valve repair, ECMO, and LVAD/RVAD patients
• Estimated patient ratios of 1:1-2
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, Friday/Saturday for night shift
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license required, OH state or compact license in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
• 2 years of Cardiac ICU experience preferred
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skills required include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring, conscious sedation, and balloon pump management
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

• Provide advanced critical care nursing for complex cardiovascular surgical and interventional patients
• Support nurse-driven ECMO protocols and manage epicardial pacing wires, arterial lines, and CVP monitoring as needed
• Administer continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drips, and cardiac medications with close titration
• Perform sheath removal and assist with post cardiac catheterization care
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible to return as travelers after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees ineligible for traveler positions at any Ohio State University hospital location
• RTO must be submitted with the initial application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed urgently upon contract signing; candidates within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location, while others will receive a mail-in packet
