Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float position at a Level I Trauma academic medical center, requiring multi-unit ICU experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Critical Care Float role covering multiple ICU units including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, IMC, Progressive, and General care populations
• Night shift schedule (1900-0730), 3x12 hours, with 4x12 shifts accepted if preferred
• Every other weekend required with some holidays
• Floating required as needed across ICU and step-down units
• Uses Epic charting system
• Care involves ventilated patients, ECMO, CRRT, IABP, EVD, and multisystem organ dysfunction management

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
• NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in specialty within the last 3 years
• 5 years of ICU experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
• Experience in an Academic Level I Trauma center required
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% accuracy on lethal rhythm identification
• Skills required include IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, arterial line management, ventilator management, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, ABG interpretation, and continuous IV sedation/paralytics preferred

Additional Information

• Assignment based at a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Care for complex ICU patients including those with cardiovascular, neurological, respiratory, and renal conditions
• Experience with ECMO, Impella, IABP, and CVVHD/CRRT preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• Parking permit required if parking onsite, though alternative transportation options are available
• First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the required specialty and trauma center experience
