Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220–$2,340
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week, subject to orientation and holiday unit-closure provisions
• Weekend and Holiday Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday
• Healthcare Setting: 8-bed cardiac stepdown, intermediate-care, and observation unit
• Patient Population: Observation and intermediate-care patients with stays of up to 48 hours
• Typical Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC
• Floating: May float to inpatient units, including intermediate-care and cardiac-focused units, as needed

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of registered nursing experience
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment
• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate degree or nursing certificate
• Recent EPIC charting experience
• Strong ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms
• NIHSS certification highly preferred
• Successful completion of an EKG examination during compliance

Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in an intermediate-care and observation setting.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly identify changes in patient condition.
• Care for patients with conditions including anemia, cellulitis, COPD, dehydration, and pre- and post-operative urology and gastrointestinal cases.
• Manage and monitor cardiac and medical infusions, including Cardizem, nitroglycerin, insulin, and heparin, according to established protocols.
• Coordinate frequent admissions, discharges, nursing assessments, medication administration, and patient education.
• Float to other inpatient units as needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care.
• Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC.
• Collaborate with providers, ancillary staff, patients, and families to support positive clinical outcomes.
• Demonstrate flexibility, resilience, organization, and a positive attitude in a fast-changing clinical environment.
