Title: Trade Compliance Specialist - Logistics
Pay: $29.00-$30.00/hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; some OT possible
Location: Orlando, FL 32822
Overview
Seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to support domestic and international logistics and customs operations. This role focuses heavily on reviewing import/export documentation, coordinating with customs brokers and freight forwarders, tracking international shipments, and ensuring information transmitted to Customs is accurate. The position requires someone analytical, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable researching issues and asking questions when needed.
Required Skills
  • 3+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs, brokerage, or international logistics
  • Domestic and international shipping/logistics experience
  • Understanding of customs documentation, bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and import/export documentation
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs and trade regulations
  • Experience with HTS classification, country of origin, and customs valuation
  • Familiarity with customs/brokerage systems or documentation such as ACE and CBP Form 7501
  • ERP experience required; SAP preferred
  • Strong computer and accurate data-entry skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, research issues, and proactively identify work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Job Responsibilities
  • Review and maintain import/export shipment documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
  • Maintain HTS classifications and country-of-origin information.
  • Assist with U.S. Customs valuation requirements.
  • Track international shipments and investigate customs delays or regulatory holds.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders regarding pre-clearance and shipping instructions.
  • Support customs programs including Duty Drawback and Temporary Import Bonds.
  • Enter and maintain trade-compliance information within ERP systems, including SAP material-master data.
  • Assist with pre- and post-entry reviews, internal audits, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare trade-compliance metrics and duty-exposure reporting.
  • Review documentation carefully before information is transmitted to brokers and Customs to help prevent errors affecting duties, taxes, and shipment clearance.
  • Collaborate with team members on a broad variety of daily requests and proactively research questions or discrepancies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, or related field; 5+ years of equivalent experience may substitute
  • Experience with Duty Drawback, Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), or CTPAT
  • SAP experience
  • Trade automation/software experience
  • Ability to initiate process improvements and adapt to changing priorities
Work Environment
Primarily a temperature-controlled warehouse office environment, with occasional visits to warehouse, production, and repair-station areas. The employee will be based in Orlando and primarily support Irvine Avionics IFE, with supplemental support to Orlando Avionics AGS as needed.
