LHH is partnering with a valued law firm client to identify a Legal Billing Specialist for a contract opportunity with the potential to become a permanent position. This role is ideal for a billing professional with legal billing and e-billing experience who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Candidates with experience handling complex billing processes, electronic billing platforms, invoice management, and client billing compliance are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities
Coordinate billing setup and maintenance, including rates, fee arrangements, billing guidelines, and matter-specific requirements.
Review and audit pre-bill data, expenses, and invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance with client billing requirements.
Maintain billing records, budget tracking, rate information, and invoice reporting tools.
Process and monitor electronic billing submissions through third-party vendor platforms, resolving rejections and submission issues.
Support timekeeper management, matter access requests, and vendor invoice processing.
Assist with write-off and adjustment workflows while adhering to established approval procedures.
Monitor invoice payment status, investigate short-pays, and partner with internal teams on collections efforts.
Respond to billing inquiries, research discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.
Serve as a resource for billing-related questions, quality control initiatives, reporting requests, and database maintenance.
Participate in internal and external audit support activities and process improvement efforts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent professional billing experience.
Minimum 3 years of legal billing and electronic billing experience.
Experience using e-billing vendor platforms and managing client billing guidelines.
Strong knowledge of billing compliance, financial controls, and invoice management processes.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with proficiency in Outlook and Word.
Ability to manage high-volume workloads while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent customer service and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
Commitment to handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Prior experience assisting with training, process documentation, or mentoring team members is preferred.
