Pay Rate $25 - $27 per hour Minimum Experience/Education
A master's degree in academic advising, student services, higher education, engineering, or a related field is required. 2+ years of experience involving student services in a higher education setting is preferred.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
The candidate must also be attentive to detail, possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize while multi-tasking, and manage tasks in an efficient and timely manner. Excellent communication and interpersonal problem-solving skills are a must. Ability to interact effectively with advisees, staff, and faculty required. A viable candidate must comprehend and abide by federal and university student confidentiality requirements. Proficient use of computers (Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is necessary. A working knowledge of BANNER, Banner Self Service, Canvas and DegreeWorks is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Academic Advisor in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering will assist transfer students and second- through senior-year students in their educational goals. Advisors must have the ability to work autonomously in a complex, team-oriented academic office with a significant advising caseload. The following list provides examples of the most typical duties for the advisor position.
