    Position Summary
    The Tax Senior Manager will oversee tax compliance and planning engagements for high net worth individuals, families, and their related entities, including trusts, estates, family partnerships, and closely held businesses. This role requires deep technical expertise in individual, trust, and estate taxation, strong client relationship management skills, and the ability to lead and develop a team while working closely with partners on practice growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee tax compliance and planning engagements for high net worth individuals, multi-generational families, trusts, estates, and related entities
    • Advise clients and families on income tax planning, estate and gift tax planning, and wealth transfer strategies
    • Review and manage preparation of complex individual, fiduciary (Form 1041), gift (Form 709), and estate tax returns, as well as related entity returns (partnerships, S-corporations)
    • Coordinate with clients' attorneys, financial advisors, and family office staff on integrated wealth planning strategies
    • Research and analyze complex tax issues affecting high net worth clients, preparing technical memoranda and client-ready deliverables
    • Manage and grow key client relationships, serving as a primary advisor and identifying opportunities for additional services
    • Oversee and mentor Tax Managers, Seniors, and Staff, providing technical guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
    • Manage engagement economics, including budgets, realization, and staffing across the HNWI service line
    • Respond to IRS and state tax notices and manage audits involving high net worth individuals, trusts, and estates
    • Monitor changes in tax law affecting individuals, trusts, and estates, and proactively communicate planning implications to clients
    • Lead business development efforts, including identifying new client opportunities, proposal preparation, and representing the firm at networking and industry events
    • Partner with firm leadership on strategic growth initiatives for the private client/HNWI practice
    • Contribute to firm training programs and technical development of staff focused on individual and fiduciary taxation

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's in Taxation or LLM in Taxation preferred
    • CPA required
    • 8-12+ years of progressive tax experience, with a strong focus on high net worth individuals, trusts, and estates within public accounting
    • Deep technical knowledge of individual income tax, estate and gift tax, and fiduciary income tax
    • Experience with wealth transfer strategies, including trusts, family limited partnerships, and charitable planning vehicles
    • Prior experience managing and developing a team, including Managers and Seniors
    • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex tax and planning concepts clearly to clients and internal teams
    • Proficiency with tax research software (BNA, CCH, Checkpoint) and tax preparation software (GoSystem, CCH Axcess, or similar)
    • Proven track record of business development and client relationship management

    Preferred Attributes

    • Big 4 or national/regional public accounting firm background, or experience within a dedicated private client services group
    • Experience working alongside family offices, RIAs, or wealth management teams
    • Familiarity with multi-generational wealth planning and complex family entity structures
    • Strong presence and credibility with high net worth clients and referral sources
    • Track record of building or significantly growing a book of business within a private client tax practice
