Position Overview
The Talent Acquisition Consultant serves as a senior recruiting strategist and talent advisor for designated health sciences units at the University of Minnesota, with an initial focus on Public Health, Pharmacy, and Dentistry. This position may also support Medical School, Nursing, OACA, Veterinary Medicine, and other University units or positions as assigned based on business needs.
This position manages the development and execution of comprehensive talent acquisition strategies that support the hiring needs of complex academic, clinical, research, administrative, and operational environments. The consultant serves as a strategic partner to hiring managers, HR partners, and unit leadership by advising on recruitment strategy, candidate markets, sourcing approaches, hiring timelines, and best practices.
Operating as a senior individual contributor, the Talent Acquisition Consultant manages full-cycle recruitment for a broad range of Civil Service and P&A positions. The position develops proactive sourcing strategies, builds candidate pipelines, analyzes recruitment trends, and provides recommendations to improve hiring outcomes. This role requires strong consultative skills, independent judgment, and the ability to support recruitment across multiple job families and organizational priorities.
The consultant also collaborates closely with Talent Acquisition leadership and colleagues to ensure consistent, compliant, and effective hiring practices across the University system.

Independence and Decision Making
The Talent Acquisition Consultant operates with significant independence and manages recruitment strategy and execution for assigned portfolios with limited day-to-day supervision. Work is generally guided by priorities, schedules, deadlines, and defined deliverables. Supervision typically occurs when complex issues arise, recurring concerns need to be addressed, or deadlines are at risk.
This position applies professional judgment to complex recruitment situations and frequently serves as a technical recruiting resource for hiring managers, HR partners, and colleagues within Talent Acquisition. The consultant is expected to make sound, timely recommendations and know when to escalate issues to Talent Acquisition leadership.
Hybrid :This is a hybrid position, and will require 1 -2 days on campus.
