Staffing Coordinator - Hospital setting 2nd & 3rd shifts

Main responsibilities Create and manage schedules: Assign nurses, nursing assistants, technicians, and other staff to shifts based on staffing needs. Immediate need for a staffing coordinator in a hospital setting.

Location:  Springfield, Massachusetts
Hours: Monday - Friday and every other weekend

• 2nd shift 2pm - 10pm  OR
• 3rd shift 10pm - 6am

Pay Rate - based on experience

Main responsibilities

• • Create and manage schedules: Assign nurses, nursing assistants, technicians, and other staff to shifts based on staffing needs.
  • Fill open shifts: Find replacements when someone calls out sick, is on vacation, or otherwise can't work.
  • Monitor staffing levels: Make sure each unit has enough qualified staff to safely care for patients.
  • Coordinate with managers: Work closely with nurse managers, department supervisors, HR, and sometimes the nursing administration team.
  • Handle schedule changes: Adjust assignments when patient census changes or the hospital suddenly becomes busier.
  • Track attendance and staffing: Maintain records of hours worked, absences, overtime, and sometimes agency/temporary staff.
  • Follow staffing rules: Ensure schedules comply with hospital policies, employee contracts, union rules where applicable, and required staffing qualifications.
  • Communicate with employees: Notify staff about assignments, schedule changes, open shifts, and overtime opportunities.

Requirements

• Seeking candidates who are highly organized, strong communicators, proactive problem-solvers, pay attention to details, and have the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Familiarity with hospital scheduling software preferred
• Knowledge of healthcare terminology is ideal
