Legal Entity Aultman Hospital Position Summary The Aultman Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse that provides direct, primary nursing care to patients/residents. The RN delegates and coordinates patient care, based upon a documented assessment of the patients/residents needs. The RN supervises the care provided by individuals such as licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians/state tested nursing assistants/nurse aides, medical assistants, and etc., if applicable. Department Summary The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical leadership and direction of patient care, provide patient and family teaching, and work cooperatively within the interdisciplinary health care team in maintaining standards of nursing care within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. Main 2 Endoscopy/Minor Surgery uses a hybrid model that includes both the total patient care model (for simple cases done with local anesthesia) and team nursing model (for endoscopy cases requiring sedation). Main 2 Endoscopy/Minor Surgery provides diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures on an outpatient, inpatient, and emergency basis. Additionally minor surgeries and miscellaneous outpatient procedures are performed. Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. When the department is closed, there is an RN on call 24/7 with a 30-minute response time. Main 2 Endoscopy/Minor Surgery is staffed entirely with RNs who work under the direction of the Unit Director and Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM). Care of all patients is planned, directed, and evaluated by a Registered Nurse (RN). Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Current, active licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Ohio Board of Nursing. Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required. Certification preferred for RNs meeting applicable certification eligibility requirements. Membership in professional nursing organization preferred.
