Job Details

We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant to take ownership of full-cycle accounting for three substantial commercial properties. This position reports directly to the CFO and works closely with the Controller and property management teams to deliver accurate financial reporting, manage CAM reconciliations, and strengthen accounting processes.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on commercial property accounting experience, strong analytical skills, and an interest in growing into greater responsibility.

Responsibilities
Own monthly close activities for assigned properties, including journal entries, accruals, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and reporting packages for management and joint venture partners.
Analyze financial results and provide clear explanations of budget-to-actual variances.
Prepare CAM estimates and annual reconciliations, applying lease terms and resolving discrepancies with property management teams.
Reconcile rent rolls and review tenant billings, cash receipts, and lease-related charges for accuracy.
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities for assigned properties, including vendor invoices, payment deadlines, and outstanding tenant balances.
Support annual property budgets, cash flow estimates, and capital project cost tracking.
Assist with tenant audits, accounting inquiries, and special reporting requests.
Support the planned MRI-to-Yardi Voyager conversion, including data validation, reconciliations, and workflow improvements.
Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy, accounting procedures, and use of technology.
Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Approximately 2–6 years of relevant commercial property accounting experience.
Hands-on CAM reconciliation experience.
Experience with commercial properties; office experience is preferred, with industrial, retail, or medical property experience also considered.
Proficiency in MRI or Yardi; MRI experience is preferred, and exposure to both systems is a plus.
Experience owning monthly close, financial reporting, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyze detailed financial and tenant data.
Clear, professional written and verbal communication.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
Comfort adopting new technology and improving existing workflows.
Interest in taking initiative and growing into broader accounting responsibilities.
Ability to work onsite in Costa Mesa five days per week. Candidates must be local to Orange County or committed to relocating before starting.
