Job Details:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our dynamic Accounting and Finance team. This role will be responsible for the financial management of a portfolio of commercial real estate properties. The successful candidate will have a strong background in commercial real estate accounting, with a keen ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This position requires a high level of interaction with property managers, asset managers, and senior executives, so excellent communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
  • Utilize Yardi property management software to manage accounting processes.
  • Coordinate with property managers to ensure all income and expenses are recorded accurately.
  • Manage project accounting and construction accounting processes, including the review of contractor pay applications and the preparation of draw requests.
  • Prepare year-end audit packages and assist with the annual budget process.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate accounting.
  • Proficiency in Yardi property management software is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with project accounting and construction accounting is highly desirable.
  • Ability to reconcile accounts and prepare journal entries accurately.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • CPA certification is a plus.
