We are in search of a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our vibrant accounting and finance team. This role is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional to leverage their skills in a challenging and rewarding environment, within the fast-paced commercial real estate industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of property accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including retail, office, and industrial sectors.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Property Accountant, you will:
1. Oversee all aspects of commercial property accounting, including preparation of financial statements, budgets, and variance reports.
2. Execute CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and ensure that all CAM charges are accurately billed and collected.
3. Utilize MRI software for property accounting tasks, including data entry, report generation, and analysis.
4. Collaborate with property management and leasing teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting of property financial results.
5. Conduct regular audits of property accounts to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
6. Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements and liaise with external auditors as required.
7. Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic decision-making.
8. Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned, such as system implementations or process improvements.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Property Accountant role will have:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, specifically within the commercial real estate industry.
2. Proven expertise in CAM Reconciliations and commercial property accounting.
3. Proficiency in MRI software or similar property management/accounting software.
4. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA designation is considered an asset.
5. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
7. A detail-oriented mindset, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality in all work outputs.
8. The ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, while also demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently.
9. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
