Our client is a rapidly growing, venture-backed technology startup building an AI-powered marketplace that modernizes how organizations buy and sell critical assets. The company has experienced significant growth over the past year and is continuing to aggressively expand their Engineering team by hiring a Software Engineer. This is a fast-paced startup environment where engineers work closely with leadership, customers, and other teams to build products and systems from the ground up.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$150k - $250k + equity

Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to join their growing engineering organization in NYC. This is a highly hands-on role focused on building new products, internal tools, data infrastructure, and AI-powered workflows from the ground up. The ideal candidate has 2 - 7 years of software engineering experience, strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills, experience with React and Node.js, and hands-on exposure to AI/LLM development. Startup experience is highly preferred, particularly experience working as an early engineer, technical founder, or engineer within a Series A/B startup. Candidates should be comfortable operating in an environment where priorities move quickly, engineers take significant ownership, and products are built and shipped rapidly.

Responsibilities of the Software Engineer:
  • Build and launch new products, features, and systems from the ground up.
  • Develop full-stack applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js.
  • Build internal tools and automation that improve business and sales operations.
  • Develop scalable APIs, databases, and data infrastructure.
  • Apply AI and LLM technologies to real-world workflows and unstructured data.
  • Build AI-powered agents and automated workflows.
  • Work with fragmented and messy data to create scalable pipelines and actionable insights.
  • Partner directly with business teams and customers to understand problems and build solutions.
  • Take ownership of projects from initial idea through development and production.
  • Contribute to technical architecture and product decisions in a rapidly scaling startup environment.
Required Experience/Skills for the Software Engineer:
  • 2 - 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong JavaScript and TypeScript development experience.
  • Strong React and Node.js experience.
  • Hands-on AI/LLM development experience.
  • Experience designing and working with scalable databases and APIs.
  • Proven experience building products, applications, or systems from the ground up.
  • Strong product mindset and ability to take ownership beyond assigned tickets.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, high-growth engineering environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working onsite in NYC 5 days per week.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Software Engineer:
  • Previous startup experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience as an early engineer or technical co-founder.
  • Experience at a Series A or Series B startup.
  • Combination of experience at both an established technology company and an early-stage startup.
  • Personal engineering projects, side projects, or experience independently building and launching products.
  • Experience building AI agents or AI-powered products.
  • Experience working with messy or unstructured real-world data.
  • Experience with sales or marketing automation platforms.
  • Experience working directly with customers or business stakeholders.
  • Experience building in highly autonomous engineering environments.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Equivalent hands-on software engineering experience will also be considered.
