    About the Role:

    The Senior Tax Accountant, CPA is a senior-level public accounting opportunity for an experienced tax and accounting professional with expertise in complex tax compliance, financial reporting, and client advisory services. This role is ideal for a CPA with extensive experience in partnership taxation, real estate tax, high-net-worth individuals, and closely held businesses. The position combines technical tax and accounting responsibilities with strategic tax planning, client consulting, financial statement preparation, and leadership within a collaborative public accounting environment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and review complex federal, state, and multi-state tax returns for partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, individuals, trusts, and estates.
    • Prepare, adjust, and review client trial balances, general ledger activity, and year-end accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Record journal entries related to accruals, depreciation, book-to-tax adjustments, and other accounting reconciliations.
    • Perform audits, reviews, and compilations in accordance with professional standards.
    • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements with full disclosures.
    • Conduct proactive tax planning and identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities while supporting long-term client objectives.
    • Research complex federal and state tax issues and prepare written technical analyses and recommendations.
    • Assist with tax controversy matters, including responding to notices, examinations, and regulatory inquiries.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and strategic advisory services.
    • Collaborate with attorneys, financial advisors, and other external professionals on tax planning, entity structuring, and transactional matters.
    • Support mergers, restructurings, entity formations, and other specialized consulting engagements.
    • Mentor and develop junior accounting professionals through coaching, technical guidance, and review of work product.
    • Leverage accounting technology, workflow automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, productivity, and client service.
    • Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while maintaining quality standards and meeting deadlines.

    Qualifications:

    • Active Certified Public Accountant, CPA, license in good standing.
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
    • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of public accounting experience with significant tax and assurance responsibilities.
    • Extensive experience preparing and reviewing complex partnership, corporate, individual, and trust tax returns.
    • Strong background in partnership taxation, including IRC Sections 704(b), 704(c), 754, 1031 exchanges, Section 163(j), Section 199A, and pass-through entity taxation.
    • Demonstrated experience serving real estate clients, closely held businesses, and high-net-worth individuals.
    • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, GAAP, financial statement preparation, audits, reviews, and compilations.
    • Experience performing tax research and interpreting complex tax regulations.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused, consultative approach.
    • Proficiency with professional tax software, accounting applications, Microsoft Office 365, QuickBooks, and document management systems.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a professional accounting team.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Advanced experience with complex real estate partnerships and investment structures.
    • Experience with trust and estate taxation, wealth planning, and multi-generational tax strategies.
    • Familiarity with multi-state taxation and complex entity structures.
    • Experience supporting business transactions, restructurings, and strategic tax consulting engagements.
    • Previous experience mentoring, reviewing, and developing accounting staff.
