We are seeking a Senior Systems Architect & Design Engineer to lead the architecture and design of advanced missile defense and Command & Control (C2) systems supporting national defense missions. This role sits at the intersection of operational concepts, system architecture, and technical execution, shaping complex, mission-critical systems from concept through implementation.
This is a principal-level individual contributor role requiring deep experience in defense systems, battle management, and large-scale C2 architectures.
Lead end-to-end system architecture and design for missile defense and C2 platforms
Develop and refine Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) aligned to mission objectives
Apply DoD architecture frameworks (DoDAF 2.0 / MODAF) to guide system structure and integration
Architect and evaluate C4ISR systems, including sensor fusion, track correlation, and fire control workflows
Design modern architectures leveraging data mesh, microservices, and event-driven systems
Define and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and system APIs
Collaborate with software, systems, and operational stakeholders across programs
Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance throughout system lifecycle phases
10+ years of experience in missile defense, battle management, or large-scale defense systems
Proven expertise in missile defense or C2 architecture
Strong working knowledge of DoDAF 2.0 and/or MODAF
Hands-on experience with C4ISR systems, including sensor integration and fire control
Experience designing distributed systems using microservices and event-driven architectures
Demonstrated ability to author and manage ICDs and APIs
Ability to operate at both strategic architecture and detailed technical levels
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Familiarity with the F2T2EA kill chain
Experience with JADC2 and/or ABMS initiatives
Exposure to missile defense platforms such as AEGIS, THAAD, or Patriot
Knowledge of cross-domain solutions, Zero Trust architectures, and MLS environments
Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into defense systems (e.g., Maven, Lattice)
