Network Architect 

Farmers Branch, TX – Hybrid 

6-month contract-to-hire

Pay rate around $80/hr, depending on experience

This role is W2 only. It is not eligible for C2C. 

 

Summary:

Architect, design, implement, and maintain the global Network Infrastructure that connects all offices, manufacturing sites, and data centers. Take ownership of network architecture and engineering efforts, including developing technical roadmaps, ensuring system reliability, and maintaining adherence to project schedules. Collaborate in the design, planning, and deployment of robust, high-performance networks while closely monitoring and assessing network health through key performance metrics (SLAs, availability, performance indicators).

Job Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and optimize scalable, highly available network infrastructures, ensuring system reliability, security, and performance across all global sites.
  • Lead architectural decisions and engineering projects, taking an active role in troubleshooting complex network issues and implementing solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment with business needs and security requirements.
  • Play a key role in network innovation by researching and recommending new networking technologies, standards, and best practices to enhance network performance and security.
  • Conduct network maintenance and manage hardware and software changes to optimize system performance.
  • Actively participate in the integration of additional office sites into the network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and security.
  • Work alongside Managed Service Providers (MSP) responsible for global network monitoring (NOC) and oversee telecom management partners.
  • Evaluate and select networking equipment and vendors, ensuring adherence to technical and business requirements while managing vendor relationships.
  • Oversee network device lifecycle management, including hardware procurement, renewals, and warranties.
  • Ensure network security by managing and configuring firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and network access controls.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • Extensive experience with Cisco and Juniper switches, Palo Alto and Cisco ASA Firewalls, VPNs, Silver Peak SD-WAN, Aruba Wireless, and ClearPass Network Access Control.
  • In-depth expertise in Firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, SDWAN, Network Access Control, Web Filtering, Routing and Switching (OSPF, BGP), Load Balancing, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10+ years of experience in network engineering or architecture.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to network design and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization
