    Senior Project Engineer – Heavy Civil / Infrastructure

    Location: Baltimore, MD

     

    We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support field and project operations for heavy civil and infrastructure construction projects. This role is primarily field-based and ideal for early- to mid-career engineers ready to gain hands-on construction experience and contribute to project delivery. Travel throughout the Hampton Roads area may be required depending on project locations.


    What You’ll Do

    • Assist the Superintendent and Project Manager in managing all aspects of project field operations and administration.

    • Participate in pre-construction activities including construction planning, design interpretation, and quantity take-offs.

    • Understand specifications, drawings, standards, and subcontractor/supplier scopes of work.

    • Maintain safety compliance and reinforce company safety policies.

    • Prepare drawings, sketches, and as-built documentation to support construction work, change orders, and estimates.

    • Verify work-in-place quantities for invoicing and maintain RFI and submittal logs.

    • Ensure accurate craft timecards, cost codes, and project documentation.

    • Support constructability reviews, value engineering, quality control, and project status reporting.

    • Assist in project close-out activities and provide estimating support as needed.

    • Perform additional assignments as directed by supervisors.


    What We’re Looking For

    • 4-year civil engineering degree or equivalent technical training and related experience.

    • 2–4 years of field construction experience.

    • E.I.T. preferred but not required.

    • Ability to read and interpret plans and construction documents.

    • Basic understanding of cost analysis.

    • Strong computer, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    • Willingness to travel as required.


    Physical Demands

    • Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and work on uneven ground.

    • Perform tasks in outdoor environments, wearing required PPE and steel-toed boots.

    • Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stand for extended periods.
