    What You'll Do:

    ECS is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Project Manager/Engineer to join our Greensboro, NC office. As a Geotechnical Project Manager with ECS you will support projects of varying complexity alongside a team of expert, like-minded employee-owners. You will lead field investigations, prepare geotechnical design recommendations and geotechnical reports, manage and prepare cost estimates and contract plans for projects ranging from high-rises to highways!

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage and execute geotechnical engineering projects across Northern NC and surrounding regions
    • Conduct and supervise field exploration programs, including soil borings, test pits, CPTs, and geophysical surveys
    • Perform advanced geotechnical analysis including slope stability, settlement, shallow and deep foundations, and earth retention systems
    • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, proposals, and technical deliverables
    • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams throughout project lifecycle
    • Mentor and guide junior staff; review and provide feedback on technical work
    • Coordinate with CMT field and lab technicians and use their finding in your reports
    • Conduct field, in-situ testing as needed
    • Ensure compliance with project scopes, schedules, and budgets

    What We're Looking For:

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
    • PE license in North Carolina or ability to obtain within 6 months
    • Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience in a consulting setting
    • Proficiency with geotechnical software: GeoStudio, gINT, LPile, Slope/W, Slide, Settle3D, etc.
    • Strong understanding of subsurface investigations, laboratory testing programs, and geotechnical design principles
    • Experience with foundation systems, retaining structures, ground improvement, and forensic investigations
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering
    • Familiarity with CAD and/or MicroStation for collaboration with design teams
    • Experience in proposal writing and business development
    • Project management experience with DOT or large-scale commercial clients, residential, municipal, retail etc.
    • Active participation in professional organizations (e.g., ASCE, DFI, Geo-Institute)
