The Benefits Consultant is an advisory role within the Client Solutions team responsible for consulting with prospective clients, developing new business opportunities, negotiating coverage solutions, and securing and binding new business within an assigned program territory or area of expertise.
In this role, the Benefits Consultant partners with Producers, clients, senior leadership, insurance carriers, and other industry stakeholders to design, evaluate, and implement employee benefits solutions that align with business objectives and client needs.
This role requires a high-energy professional with strong executive presence and the ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgement, and make informed decisions.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic planning and consultative guidance to prospective clients, including coverage analysis and recommendations.
- Negotiate with carriers and vendors to secure competitive quotes and optimal coverage options.
- Analyze carrier proposals and develop coverage recommendations aligned with client needs and best interests.
- Present coverage solutions and advise prospective clients on plan options and program structures.
- Build and maintain relationships with Lockton Producers to generate referrals and support internal business development efforts.
- Expand client business by identifying and securing appropriate markets within assigned territories and specialties.
- Conduct outbound business development activities through phone, email, and other communication channels to engage prospective clients and generate new opportunities.
- Respond to inbound inquiries and consult with prospective clients to assess needs, provide coverage guidance, and convert opportunities into new business.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to enhance program performance and recommend improvements to existing programs.
- Maintain subject-matter expertise within industry and stay current on market and regulatory developments.
- May help coordinate the day-to-day administrative and support service activities among the account management team.
- Mentor junior staff on market dynamics, industry trends, and effective strategies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, sales opportunities, and business development activities within CRM and other business systems.
