Position: Senior AccountantLocation: Baton Rouge, LAJob Id: 110# of Openings: 1SummaryThe Royal Standard is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations of our growing retail and wholesale business. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, reviewing the work of the accounting team, and helping maintain efficient accounting processes across multiple locations.The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, identifying discrepancies before they become issues, and producing accurate financial information. This role is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional who has developed leadership skills and is ready to mentor a small accounting team while remaining actively involved in the daily accounting function.This position offers a stable Monday‑Friday schedule, standard business hours, a collaborative team environment, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.Essential functionsReview journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by the accounting team to ensure accuracy and completeness.Identify discrepancies, research accounting issues, and implement corrective actions before financial information is finalized.Oversee day‑to‑day accounting activities for a multi‑location retail and wholesale business.Prepare and review general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations.Coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes.Prepare accurate monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.Mentor, coach, and provide day‑to‑day guidance to a small accounting team.Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and other accounting functions as needed.Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.Utilize NetSuite and other accounting systems to improve reporting and streamline workflows.Partner with leadership by providing timely and accurate financial information.Supervisory responsibilitiesProvides day‑to‑day leadership, coaching, training, and review of a small accounting team consisting of approximately two to three employees.Required education and experienceBachelor's degree in Accounting required.3‑5 years of progressive financial accounting experience.Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.Experience independently managing month‑end close and preparing financial statements.Experience reviewing the work of others, mentoring team members, or leading accounting projects.Experience identifying accounting discrepancies and resolving complex reconciliation issues.ERP accounting software experience required; NetSuite experience is highly desirable.Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate financial information.Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.Preferred education and experienceRetail, wholesale, or multi‑location accounting experience.Experience improving accounting processes and implementing efficiencies.Familiarity with POS systems and integration with accounting platforms a plus.Additional eligibility qualificationsExceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.Highly self‑directed — able to work independently and manage priorities without reminders.Consistent, reliable follow‑through on daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions.Clear, professional communicator with non‑accounting colleagues including store managers, operations staff, and senior leadership.Adaptable and comfortable in a growing, entrepreneurial organization.HealthMedical & Prescription Drug InsuranceDental & Vision InsuranceLife, Short‑Term Disability, & Long‑Term DisabilityTime OffPaid Time Off for full‑time employeesIncludes Vacation and Personal Days as well as Paid HolidaysFinancial PlanningSimple IRA plan with company matchDiscountsGenerous employee discount at The Royal Standard stores, website, & The Crown Bistro#J-18808-Ljbffr
