PGS Worldwide is seeking Secret-Cleared GNC Engineers – Seeker & Target Tracking in Chandler, Arizona for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. Multiple positions are available across several experience levels. These roles will develop and evaluate advanced guidance, navigation, and control systems with a strong emphasis on seeker modeling, target tracking, state estimation, flight algorithms, and six-degree-of-freedom simulation for missile and launch vehicle applications.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience; or a master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance required.
  • Experience with guidance, navigation, and control concepts, algorithms, or analysis for aerospace, missile, spacecraft, or autonomous systems.
  • Experience supporting development, modeling, simulation, integration, test, or analysis of aerospace or missile systems.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or similar technical software tools.
  • Experience developing software or analytical tools in a Linux environment.
  • Understanding of control systems, mathematical modeling, and flight dynamics.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or analyzing six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulations.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Higher-level opportunities require progressively greater experience leading or significantly contributing to GNC algorithm development, simulation, integration, analysis, and technical leadership.

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with seeker-based missile engagements and precision intercept systems.
  • Experience with target tracking and seeker systems, including infrared and/or RF seekers.
  • Experience with state estimation and nonlinear filtering techniques such as:
    • Kalman Filters
    • Extended Kalman Filters
    • Unscented Kalman Filters
  • Experience developing and validating target dynamics and measurement models.
  • Experience with seeker measurements including line-of-sight rate, angle-only measurements, infrared pixel/centroid measurements, Doppler, range, range rate, azimuth, or elevation.
  • Experience with data association, track initiation, track maintenance, and multi-target tracking.
  • Experience with guidance-law development and flight-software implementation.
  • Experience with rigid-body dynamics, PID control, LQR, or similar control-system techniques.
  • Experience with hypersonic or advanced missile systems.
  • Proficiency with C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience with Jira, version control, continuous integration, and modern software-development practices.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and evaluate guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for advanced missile and launch vehicle systems.
  • Design, implement, verify, and test flight and simulation software.
  • Develop and maintain 6-DOF simulations used to design, analyze, and validate flight algorithms and flight code.
  • Develop algorithms that process seeker measurements and support guidance, control, tracking, and state-estimation functions.
  • Model seeker behavior, target dynamics, measurement systems, and missile engagements.
  • Perform trajectory analysis, optimization, trade studies, and performance assessments.
  • Integrate hardware and software components into end-to-end simulation environments.
  • Optimize flight and simulation software for performance, robustness, and maintainability.
  • Analyze GNC system performance and identify opportunities for algorithm and system improvements.
  • Support integration, verification, test, and mission-performance activities.
  • Present technical results, risks, findings, and recommendations to engineering and program leadership.
  • Depending on experience level, provide technical direction and mentor less-experienced engineers.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • Full-time onsite in Chandler, Arizona.
  • 9/80A schedule with every other Friday off.
  • Telecommuting is not available for these positions.

Pay

  • $82.20–$133.33 per hour, depending on experience level and position.
