Risk Manager Capital Projects

RISK MANAGER

This is an opportunity to work on a challenging and exciting new pharmaceutical project.  You will work with a leading EPC where we are seeking a Risk Manager leads the integrated project risk management program for the major capital project. The role establishes disciplined risk governance, maintains alignment among the Risk Register, estimates, schedules, budgets, contingency and change processes, and converts qualitative and quantitative risk information into decision-ready insight for client and Owner’s Representative / PMC leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the project Risk Management Plan in accordance with client work instructions and approved governance requirements.
• Lead cross-functional risk workshops and maintain the integrated Risk Register, including risk ownership, mitigation actions, due dates, residual exposure and escalation status.
• Perform qualitative and quantitative cost and schedule risk assessments using three-point estimating, Monte Carlo simulation, sensitivity analysis and scenario modeling.
• Develop confidence-based cost and schedule forecasts and assess contingency adequacy, forecast movement and key risk drivers.
• Integrate risk outputs with project estimates, budgets, schedules, forecasts, change processes and contingency accounts.
• Monitor mitigation effectiveness, challenge unsupported assumptions and escalate material or overdue risks through project governance.
• Prepare risk dashboards, executive summaries and decision-support materials for project reviews and stage-gate decisions.
• Coordinate with the Trend & Change Manager to maintain traceability when risks become trends, deviations or formal changes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant project controls, project risk, cost/schedule risk analysis or major capital-project experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading qualitative and quantitative risk processes on complex capital programs.
• Working knowledge of integrated cost, schedule, change, estimating and contingency management processes.
• Hands-on experience with Monte Carlo simulation, three-point estimating, sensitivity analysis and confidence-level forecasting.
• Ability to facilitate senior, cross-functional workshops and translate complex risk information into clear management decisions.
• Strong written communication, executive presentation and stakeholder-management capability.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences or other regulated manufacturing capital-project experience.
• Owner’s Representative, PMC, EPCM or IPMT delivery experience on projects exceeding $500 million TIC.
• Experience with Primavera P6, Oracle Primavera Risk Analysis, Safran Risk, Acumen Risk, EcoSys, change management system, Power BI or comparable platforms.
• Professional certification such as PMI-RMP, AACE DRMP, PMP, CCP, PSP or equivalent.
• Experience supporting stage-gate and capital-funding or comparable stage-gate and capital-funding governance.
