Research Project Coordinator: Online Survey Data Collection (Part-time, OPS)

Responsibilities

• The person in this position will oversee the day-to-day operation of survey recruitment and data collection. The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive to detail, comfortable learning new things, and able to identify and solve problems independently. Because many aspects of the project will require utilizing new recruitment and survey platforms, applicants should feel comfortable taking initiative and figuring out how to complete new tasks with limited supervision.
• Primary responsibilities include set up, launch, and monitor multiple versions of online word-rating surveys. Manage participant recruitment through Prolific and other platforms. Coordinate recruitment through university student subject pools. Develop and implement social media and other online recruitment strategies. Monitor recruitment progress, participation rates, completion rates, and project costs.
• Track individual participation and demographics across platforms. Maintain accurate records of survey administration, recruitment sources, participant compensation, and data-collection progress. Provide regular progress updates and communicate promptly when problems or important decisions arise. Complete other project-related tasks as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong organizational and project-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Willingness and ability to learn new software and online platforms.
• Comfort researching solutions, troubleshooting problems, and making progress without step-by-step instructions.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple survey versions and recruitment activities simultaneously.
• Commitment to maintaining participant confidentiality and following research protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred qualifications include prior experience with survey research, participant recruitment, or research data collection.
• Experience using Qualtrics or another online survey platforms.
• Experience with Prolific, university subject-pool systems, or other crowdsourcing and participant-recruitment platforms.
• Experience recruiting research participants through social media.
• Experience with language data.
• Familiarity with research ethics, informed consent, and institutional review board procedures.
• Experience with data management, quality-control procedures, or basic data cleaning.
• Interest in education, psychology, language, literacy, or related research.

Other Information

We are seeking a highly organized and self-directed individual to coordinate online data collection for a research project focused on developing a large database of word ratings. The project will involve administering several versions of an online survey and recruiting a large sample of participants through multiple sources, including crowdsourcing platforms such as Prolific, university student subject pools, social media, and other online recruitment channels.

Anticipated Salary Range

Starting at $16 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.

Considerations

This is an OPS/temporary job.

Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check.

The position will involve 10-20 hours of work per week. Some flexibility in scheduling may be available, but the employee must monitor active data collection regularly and respond promptly when participant or survey issues arise.

This position also requires attendance at a weekly lab meeting with the project leaders.

The anticipated starting date for the position is early November 2026.
