R&D Manager - Nutraceuticals to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $120k - $180k Annually, Depending on Experience
Position Overview: The R&D Manager - Nutraceuticals will lead hands-on formulation and product development activities from initial concept through commercial manufacturing. This individual will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Laboratory, Operations, and Commercial teams to develop technically sound, scalable, and commercially viable products while helping strengthen the overall R&D function.
Responsibilities of the R&D Manager - Nutraceuticals:- Lead nutraceutical product development from customer concept through formulation, scale-up, and commercial manufacturing.
- Develop and troubleshoot powder-based formulations for tablets, capsules, chewable tablets, and related solid-dose products.
- Evaluate ingredients, raw materials, suppliers, manufacturability, availability, and product cost.
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Laboratory, Sourcing, and Commercial teams to successfully transfer formulations into production.
- Manage multiple development projects while improving R&D processes and providing technical guidance to the broader organization.
Required Experience/Skills for the R&D Manager - Nutraceuticals:- 5+ years of hands-on nutraceutical, dietary supplement, or closely related formulation and product development experience.
- Strong experience developing powder-based products for tablet compression, capsule filling, or other solid-dose manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated experience taking products from concept through scale-up and commercialization.
- Strong understanding of ingredient selection, raw material functionality, manufacturing processes, and formulation troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently manage multiple product development projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the R&D Manager - Nutraceuticals:- Experience within a contract manufacturing, private-label, or multi-customer nutraceutical environment.
- Experience formulating chewable tablets or other technically challenging solid-dose products.
- Experience working directly with raw material suppliers and supporting ingredient sourcing and costing.
- Previous experience building, improving, or leading an R&D or product development function.
- Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions and commercialization activities.
Education Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nutrition, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline is preferred.
- Equivalent relevant industry experience may also be considered.
