Our client is a growing technology organization developing enterprise SaaS products designed to improve and automate complex business processes. The organization is continuing to expand its cloud-based product suite and is seeking a hands-on technical leader to help drive application architecture, engineering best practices, AI initiatives, and team development. Our client is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - AI & Cloud Applications to help drive technical strategy, application scalability, and engineering excellence across its product portfolio.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$120k - $140k

Position Overview:
The Lead Software Engineer - AI & Cloud Applications will provide hands-on technical leadership across a suite of enterprise applications. This individual will partner closely with Product and Technology leadership to design and scale applications, guide technical architecture, improve engineering practices, and mentor other engineers.
The ideal candidate has a strong full-stack engineering background with Python, Node.js, React, and AWS, along with hands-on experience designing and implementing AI/agentic systems. This person should be comfortable remaining technical while also providing leadership, mentoring engineers, and driving larger engineering initiatives.

Responsibilities of the Lead Software Engineer - AI & Cloud Applications:
  • Design and develop scalable enterprise SaaS applications and features.
  • Partner with Product and Technology leadership on technical design, architecture, and project prioritization.
  • Design and implement AI-powered and agentic systems that integrate with existing applications.
  • Evaluate and implement AI engineering tools to improve development workflows and team efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance around architecture, technology selection, implementation, and scalability.
  • Scale cloud applications with an emphasis on serverless AWS infrastructure where appropriate.
  • Improve engineering standards around code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and QA.
  • Identify technical deficiencies and recommend improvements across applications and engineering processes.
  • Mentor and manage engineers while supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Product, UX, Quality, and Release teams.
Required Experience/Skills for the Lead Software Engineer - AI & Cloud Applications:
  • 5-8 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on development experience with Python, Node.js, and React.
  • Strong AWS experience, including Lambda, SNS, API Gateway, and EC2.
  • Experience designing and implementing AI/agentic systems.
  • Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, LangFuse, OpenAI Agents SDK, or similar AI frameworks.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and/or AWS Aurora.
  • Experience building and scaling enterprise web applications.
  • Strong understanding of automated testing, code review, CI/CD, and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience working in Agile product development environments.
  • Previous technical leadership, mentoring, or engineering management experience.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Lead Software Engineer - AI & Cloud Applications:
  • AWS AppSync and GraphQL experience.
  • Golang experience.
  • SSO and authentication experience.
  • Experience scaling serverless application architectures.
  • Experience defining engineering standards and development best practices.
  • Experience managing or coaching software engineers.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product and UX teams.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing emerging AI development tools.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
