Description

Job Title: Quality Manager (Filling Operations)
Location: Ledgewood, NJ
Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $85,000 - $105,000
Hours: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday

Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all quality activities within filling operations for liquid products, fragrances, and cosmetic products to ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Manage and develop a team of Quality Technicians/Inspectors (3-5 direct reports), providing training, coaching, performance management, and day-to-day leadership to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary quality presence on the production floor, conducting routine observations, inspections, and audits of filling operations to ensure quality standards are consistently maintained.
  • Monitor and verify critical quality checks throughout the filling process, including fill weights, product appearance, packaging integrity, labeling accuracy, and overall adherence to specifications.
  • Investigate and resolve quality-related issues, deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints, partnering with Operations, Production, and other cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain, review, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality documentation, ensuring procedures accurately reflect current manufacturing practices and operational requirements.
  • Translate observations, process changes, and quality findings from the production floor into documented procedures, process improvements, and updated quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), internal quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines within a cosmetics and fragrance manufacturing environment.
  • Analyze quality data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements to enhance product quality, reduce defects, minimize waste, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Conduct line clearances, inspections, and quality approvals for production startup, changeovers, and ongoing manufacturing activities.
  • Partner with Production Management to proactively identify quality risks and implement preventive measures to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to findings, and driving corrective actions to successful completion.
  • Maintain accurate quality records and ensure proper documentation practices are followed throughout all filling and packaging operations.
  • Promote a culture of quality, attention to detail, and operational excellence throughout the manufacturing organization.

Requirements
  • BS Degree strongly preferred (will consider HS Diploma with 20 years of experience in filling operations).
  • Approx. 10 years’ experience in filling operations (liquid products, fragrances/cosmetics).
  • Approx. 5 years of management/supervisor experience.
  • Ability to write and understand procedures, adapt and adjust SOPs (not typically writing from scratch).
  • Attention to detail and aesthetically oriented.
  • Understanding of quality in a corporate environment.
