Job Title: Quality EngineerJob Description

The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring product reliability and compliance within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This position focuses on analyzing customer-returned parts, driving corrective and preventive actions, leading final inspection activities, and representing quality assurance in material review processes to continuously improve manufacturing quality and reduce internal failures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed analysis of customer-returned parts and use findings to drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) improvements.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis to identify, understand, and address existing issues, with a focus on preventing recurring internal failures and reducing risk.
  • Validate customer Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) and determine appropriate follow-up actions to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Supervise a team of six in the final inspection department, providing day-to-day leadership, guidance, coaching, and training as needed.
  • Oversee final inspection activities across different connector product lines to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Represent the quality assurance function on the material review board (MRB) for internal rejections, supporting disposition decisions and follow-up actions.
  • Support and drive first article inspection (FAI) activities in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Lead and participate in audits related to quality processes, documentation, and product compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor corrective actions and preventive measures to continually improve quality performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues, improve processes, and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience working as a Quality Engineer in an aerospace or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis techniques and the ability to apply them effectively to complex product and process issues.
  • Hands-on experience with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), including planning, implementation, and follow-up.
  • In-depth understanding of AS9102 requirements and first article inspection (FAI) processes.
  • Ability to supervise and lead a team within a final inspection or quality control department.
  • Experience representing quality assurance in material review board (MRB) activities and internal rejection analysis.
  • Familiarity with quality audits, including preparation, participation, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Solid understanding of aerospace connector product lines or similar complex mechanical/electrical components.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and presenting findings and recommendations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working across different connector lines or product families in a manufacturing environment.
  • Background in aerospace quality standards and industry best practices.
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor team members to strengthen quality competencies.
  • Comfort with documenting quality findings and producing clear, concise reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple quality initiatives simultaneously.

Work Environment

This role operates within an aerospace manufacturing and final inspection environment, working closely with production, engineering, and quality teams. The Quality Engineer spends time both on the production floor and in an office setting, conducting analyses, participating in MRB meetings, and supporting audits. The work involves handling and reviewing connector components and related products, using standard inspection tools, documentation systems, and quality management processes. Dress is typically appropriate for a manufacturing and inspection environment, with adherence to any required safety or protective equipment guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glendale, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
