    Project Accountant


    San Antonio, TX | Fortune 500 Federal Services Organization


    One of our premier clients, a Fortune 500 leader supporting federal agencies and government programs, is seeking a Project Accountant to join their team in San Antonio, Texas. This role will be responsible for managing the financial administration of government contracts from project setup through closeout, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, company policies, and federal regulations.


    Key Responsibilities



    • Review executed contracts, modifications, task orders, and funding documents to establish projects within the ERP system

    • Set up new projects, contract structures, billing terms, funding ceilings, revenue recognition methods, and labor categories in accordance with contractual requirements

    • Monitor contract funding, expenditures, and project performance to ensure compliance with customer and corporate guidelines

    • Partner with Program Managers and Contracts teams to support project startup, forecasting, and ongoing financial management

    • Track contract funding and identify potential overruns, funding limitations, or billing issues

    • Prepare and analyze project financial reports, including budget-to-actual analyses, revenue reporting, and contract status reports

    • Support monthly project revenue recognition and project close processes

    • Review project costs for allowability, allocability, and compliance with government contracting regulations

    • Prepare customer invoices and support the billing process in accordance with contract terms

    • Process project modifications, funding updates, contract extensions, and project closeouts

    • Assist with incurred cost submissions, audits, and requests from internal and external stakeholders

    • Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, DCAA, and company internal control requirements

    • Collaborate with Accounting, Contracts, Finance, and Program Management teams to resolve project-related financial issues

    • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project accounting and contract administration processes


    Preferred Qualifications



    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

    • 2+ years of Project Accounting, Government Contracting, Contract Administration, or related finance experience

    • Experience supporting cost-plus, time & material, fixed-price, and other government contract types

    • Understanding of FAR, CAS, DCAA, and federal contracting requirements

    • Experience with project setup, revenue recognition, contract funding management, or billing processes

    • Deltek Costpoint experience strongly preferred

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial reporting and data analysis

    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple contracts and projects simultaneously

    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

    • U.S. Citizenship required

    • Ability to obtain and maintain any required government clearances or access credentials
