The School Programs Assistant is a member of the Field Trip and Teacher Resources Team. This position helps staff members with day-to-day tasks associated with programming, mainly the Teaching Toolbox and Field Trip programs. This position provides general office support, such as data entry, inventorying, document management, copying, etc. Working with the Teaching Toolbox Program includes physically moving the large toolbox kits around NHMU weekly. The School Program Assistant also supports museum educators by acting as an assistant with field trip programming or class programming. This includes supply management and prep, helping field trip groups upon entry into the Museum with wayfinding and questions, and engaging with students in educational programming.
Responsibilities
Essential Position Functions:
Handles weekly routine tasks associated with the logistics of assigned education program.
Assists with data entry and reporting.
Manages inventory supply lists and materials for assigned educational programs.
Physically lifts and moves toolboxes around NHMU for teacher access and inventory.
Performs office tasks to support the Field Trips, Teaching Toolboxes, and other programming.
Acts as assistant during education programs, often interacting with K-12 students during a field trip.
Clearly communicates needs, goals, and updates via email and in-person.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Program Assistant,, I: Requires little to no related experience.
Preferences
Interest in working with Grades K-12 students in field trip programming.
