Procurement Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to oversee purchasing and supplier management for a busy machine shop and sheet metal manufacturing operation. This position will manage the procurement of raw materials, sheet metal, machined components, hardware, tooling, and outside processing while ensuring competitive pricing, quality, and on-time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily purchasing activities and maintain adequate material inventory.
• Source and negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers.
• Purchase metals, machining materials, hardware, tooling, and outside services such as plating, anodizing, heat treating, and painting.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
• Review purchase orders and monitor supplier deliveries and performance.
• Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Sales to meet manufacturing schedules.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate favorable supplier agreements.
• Resolve material shortages, quality issues, and delivery problems.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, pricing, and supplier information within the ERP system.
• Help develop and implement supplier performance and inventory control strategies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of purchasing/procurement experience in a machine shop, sheet metal, or manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of metals, machining processes, sheet metal fabrication, and manufacturing materials.
• Experience purchasing raw materials, tooling, hardware, and outside processing services.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and specifications is a plus.
• Experience with an ERP/MRP system.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
