    Description

    An essential member of UF’s P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School administrative team, this key role serves as the school’s chief internal and external communication officer. This position reports directly to the School Director of P.K. Yonge DRS.  This position supervises and manages P.K. Yonge communications, branding, and international relations with a focus toward growing the national profile of P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School’s legislated mission (research and outreach).  This position leads and directs the following areas: communications (both digital and print), media (including social), as well as external school communications.  In addition, this position will lead and manage efforts to support the expansion of the school’s outreach activities and initiatives.  This position will manage the development of a P.K. Yonge’s primary school website. This position is responsible for administration, management, and budgeting for all communications including website development and launching, digital media, print media, video, and news releases.

    Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Job Description:

    Develop and manage P.K. Yonge digital and print communications: 

    • Create and consistently implement an editorial calendar to inform internal and external stakeholders 
    • Create and consistently publicize information about faculty research and research partnerships and outreach events 
    • Direct the preparation of yearly high-profile, official publications including the Florida Developmental Research School Annual Board of Governors’ Report, P.K. Yonge Annual Report 
    • Direct the preparation of printed materials to ensure consistency of style, presentation, and adherence to brand guidelines 
    • Prepare submissions for College of Education Annual Report 
    • Primary liaison with College of Education News and Communications and Development Office 
    • Prepare written specifications for bids and negotiates and administers printing contracts 
    • Provide technical editing production advice in the preparation of administrative publications, school publications, and policy documents 
    • Responsible for alumni association and School Advisory Council communication 
    • Responsible for school communications during times of crisis, including weather and health-related emergency situations 

    Lead and manage P.K. Yonge information services: 

    • Direct the design, development, and maintenance of the school website (serving both local school population and professional/research/outreach population) 
    • Responsible for providing information, data, and timely reports/information to the school community, the public, the press, governmental agencies 
    • Prepare and distribute regular school community emails (students and families, alumni, professional) 
    • Provide monthly submissions to the College of Education EduGator newsletter 
    • Act as press officer in coordination with UF central communications and UF Emergency Management 
    • Direct/manage school’s social media plan, adoption, and implementation 
    • Direct/manage the internal and external communications plan 
    • Draft communications for school director and principals 
    • Assist with preparation and distribution of regularly scheduled newsletters  
    • Collaborate with admissions staff to engage prospective students and families 

    Assist with communication and print materials for the school’s capital campaigns: 

    • Consult, participate, assist in the institution’s capital campaign activities 
    • Oversee production of capital campaign materials 
    • Participate on efforts to engage private support for the school’s capital campaign under the direction of the school Director and College of Education’s development officer 
    • May plan and direct programs to enhance public acceptance and participation in private support for the school/university. 
    Expected Salary:

    $46,000

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred:

    Previous experience in communications; demonstrated knowledge of the strategic use of social media to promote and strengthen a brand; excellent interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; project management experience; and proficient computer skills. Highly organized and self-directed, with strengths in prioritizing and completing tasks, and meeting deadlines consistently. Meticulous attention to detail and a strong aptitude for editing, proofreading, and ensuring accuracy and consistency across communications materials. A self-directed learner who independently accesses university resources and develops the knowledge needed to effectively manage and lead projects.
