Kforce has a client that is seeking a Payroll Manager in Boston, MA. This role is hybrid, 3 days in office/2 days remote. Summary: A large, established organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join its growing team. This is a newly created position resulting from the continued globalization and centralization of HR and payroll operations. The Payroll Manager will oversee U.S. payroll operations, lead a small payroll team, and partner closely with HR, Finance, Accounting, Benefits, Compensation, and other business leaders. This highly visible position offers excellent exposure across the organization and long-term advancement opportunities as the payroll function continues to evolve. Responsibilities:
  • Lead end-to-end U.S. payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing
  • Oversee a high-volume, multi-state payroll environment
  • Manage and develop a small team of payroll professionals
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll and tax requirements
  • Oversee payroll reconciliations, controls, audits, tax funding, and year-end processing
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll matters and employee inquiries
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting on payroll-related reconciliations, reporting, accruals, and general ledger activity
  • Manage relationships with payroll and tax vendors
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, reporting, and automation
  • Support payroll system enhancements, testing, and integrations
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Benefits, Compensation, Accounting, Finance, and Internal Audit
  • Maintain payroll procedures, controls, calendars, and process documentation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or related discipline preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive payroll experience required
  • Strong U.S. multi-state payroll experience within a large organization, preferably supporting 1,500+ employees
  • Previous experience leading or supervising payroll staff
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations, internal controls, audits, and compliance
  • Experience with ADP or another large payroll/HRIS platform required
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax, wage and hour regulations, garnishments, unemployment, tax reciprocity, and year-end processing
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and levels of management
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
