Primary Purpose of the Job:
An operations assistant plays a critical role in coordinating and leading daily warehouse and transportation operations to ensure the efficient, safe, and timely movement of food throughout the food bank's network. This position serves as a central point of communication between drivers, warehouse staff, partner agencies, and operations leadership, while also providing hands-on leadership and operational support. The role balances dispatching, scheduling, problem-solving, and team leadership in alignment with the food bank's mission.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain truck logs, dispatch and check-in of drivers, headcount/truck forecasting, and provide operational updates to teams on a needed basis
- Ship, maintain, and monitor WMS for issues with orders.
- Monitor returns, order overages and order shortages and report any discrepancies to the FB operations team
- Verify invoices and driver logs
- Process returns reports and work with inventory control team/logistics team to coordinate all returns and re-deliveries
- Perform typing, data entry and other clerical duties for operations team as assigned
- Assist transportation managers in all clerical tasks on a needed basis
- Monitor security system and be the first line of response when the intercom is rung
- Work collaboratively with other staff members to accomplish goals and objectives of the operation
- Assign/adjust routes designated by the transportation managers
- Validate returns from the food sourcing routes and update the teams accordingly
- Communicate to the operations departments of route delays/changes
- End of day recap communicated to operations department
- Perform other duties as assigned (ie loading trucks, inventory management, etc)
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma ad minimum of 1 year related work experience
- Proficiency in MS Office, WMS and Fleet Tracking systems.
- Accurate numerical data entry skills.
- Ability to work in fast paced work environment.
- Ability to operate electric pallet jacks and manual pump jacks.
- Positive attitude, team-oriented, and comfortable interacting with diverse individuals.

Compensation for this role is $23/hr
