    Our client, a respected and mission-focused organization in San Antonio, is seeking a Grant Accountant to join its finance team. This role offers the opportunity to combine technical accounting expertise with meaningful work that directly supports programs and initiatives serving the community.


    The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted partner to program leaders and finance management, ensuring grant funds are managed, reported, and compliant with federal and state requirements. This position provides ownership of the full grant lifecycle, from billing and reimbursement requests to financial reporting, compliance, and audit support.

    Key Responsibilities



    • Manage the financial administration of assigned federal, state, and other grant-funded programs

    • Prepare and submit grant billings, reimbursement requests, drawdowns, and supporting documentation

    • Monitor grant budgets, expenditures, and funding availability to ensure compliance with award requirements

    • Maintain accurate accounts receivable, general ledger, and grant-related accounting records

    • Prepare grant financial reports and assist stakeholders with funding utilization analysis

    • Reconcile grant balances and investigate discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy

    • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations

    • Partner with program managers and department leaders to ensure proper allocation and reporting of grant expenditures

    • Assist with grant audits, Single Audits, and regulatory reviews by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational policies related to grant administration

    • Identify opportunities to improve grant reporting processes, strengthen controls, and enhance financial transparency


    Qualifications



    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required

    • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit, government, healthcare, education, or grant-funded environment

    • Experience managing federal and/or state grants, including reporting and compliance requirements

    • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and accounts receivable processes

    • Experience preparing grant billings, reimbursement requests, and financial reports

    • Ability to manage multiple grants, deadlines, and reporting requirements simultaneously

    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

    • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

    • Ability to work independently while building effective relationships across departments


    Preferred Qualifications



    • Experience with Uniform Guidance, grant compliance regulations, and Single Audit requirements

    • Exposure to nonprofit fund accounting and restricted funding environments

    • Experience working with ERP systems such as Acumatica, Workday, or similar accounting platforms

    • Knowledge of indirect cost allocations, grant budgeting, and funding reimbursements

    • Experience supporting external audits and regulatory reporting requirements
