Summary:
Ponessa Behavioral Health is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director and provide clinical leadership for our established behavioral health organization in Central Pennsylvania.
We are approaching this search differently.
While our preference is to identify a psychiatrist interested in a full-time Medical Director position, we recognize that the right physician may already have an established practice, academic appointment, or other professional commitments. We are therefore open to full-time, part-time, flexible, and hybrid arrangements for an exceptional candidate.
Why consider Ponessa Behavioral Health?
• No on call
• No weekends
• Flexible scheduling
• Dedicated administrative/leadership time
• Clinical workload structured around Medical Director responsibilities
• Hybrid administrative/telepsychiatry opportunities where appropriate
• Established psychiatric, nursing, clinical, Quality/Compliance, HR and administrative support

• Opportunity to meaningfully shape psychiatric services across an established behavioral health organization
The Opportunity
The Medical Director provides medical and psychiatric leadership for PBH's psychiatric services and works collaboratively with the CEO, psychiatric providers, nursing leadership, clinical Directors, and Quality/Compliance team.
Responsibilities include providing psychiatric and clinical leadership; establishing and maintaining standards for high-quality psychiatric care; providing clinical consultation to psychiatric providers and organizational leadership; participating in quality improvement, regulatory compliance and clinical policy development; supporting recruitment and clinical evaluation of psychiatric providers; participating in required clinical meetings and interdisciplinary consultation; and maintaining an agreed-upon clinical caseload appropriate to the physician's overall schedule and Medical Director responsibilities.
We believe the position should be structured around the strengths of the right physician. The specific balance of clinical care, administrative leadership, on-site presence and remote work will be developed collaboratively based upon the candidate's experience, interests and availability, as well as PBH's regulatory and operational requirements.
Qualifications
• MD or DO
