Job DetailsResponsibilities
- Represent employers in state and federal employment litigation
- Handle matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, and related workplace disputes
- Manage cases from initial evaluation through discovery, dispositive motions, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, discovery responses, and other substantive legal documents
- Take and defend depositions
- Conduct witness interviews and prepare witnesses for deposition and trial
- Develop litigation strategy and provide clients with ongoing case assessments
- Represent clients at mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and court appearances
- Negotiate settlements and evaluate potential exposure
- Advise employers regarding litigation risk and employment-related compliance issues
- Work directly with HR professionals, executives, in-house counsel, and other client stakeholders
Qualifications
- Active membership in good standing with the California Bar
- Experience handling management-side employment litigation, at least 10 years
- Strong knowledge of California and federal employment law
- Experience with discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour matters
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Experience drafting substantive motions and managing written discovery
- Deposition experience strongly preferred
- Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload
- Strong client communication and case management skills
- Ability to develop practical litigation strategies while balancing legal risk and business considerations
