Job Details

A growing litigation practice is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys through all phases of complex civil litigation. This role is ideal for a highly organized, proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands California litigation procedures, and takes ownership of ensuring cases progress efficiently from filing through trial.

The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys, legal assistants, clients, courts, experts, and outside parties while managing critical deadlines, procedural requirements, discovery, and trial preparation. This position also offers the opportunity to provide leadership and mentorship to legal support staff.

Responsibilities
Litigation & Discovery Support
Draft and prepare complaints, pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and litigation-related documents.
Coordinate service of process and monitor completion of service requirements.
Prepare deposition notices, subpoenas, and document requests.
Assist with drafting and organizing discovery responses and objections.
Manage document production and case-related records.
Coordinate with expert witnesses, medical providers, and third-party vendors.
Assist attorneys with case strategy, settlement efforts, and litigation preparation.
Court Filings & Deadline Management
Prepare and file documents in California state courts and other applicable jurisdictions.
Maintain and monitor litigation calendars, court deadlines, hearing dates, and discovery schedules.
Track statutes of limitation and procedural deadlines.
Ensure compliance with court rules and filing requirements.
Communicate with court personnel regarding filings, hearings, and procedural matters.
Proactively identify and resolve procedural issues before they impact case progress.
Trial Preparation & Support
Assist with all aspects of trial preparation.
Coordinate witness scheduling and logistics.
Organize exhibits, evidence, trial binders, and supporting documentation.
Prepare pre-trial and trial-related filings.
Support attorneys during mediation, arbitration, and trial proceedings.
Client & Attorney Support
Maintain professional communication with clients regarding case-related matters.
Serve as a key point of contact for attorneys on assigned cases.
Assist with case updates, status reporting, and file management.
Work collaboratively with legal professionals to ensure matters continue moving toward resolution.
Anticipate case needs and provide proactive support rather than reacting to tasks as they arise.
Team Leadership
Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship to legal assistants and support staff.
Delegate administrative and case-related tasks when appropriate.
Help maintain accountability, accuracy, and efficiency across the litigation support team.
Serve as a resource for litigation procedures, calendaring, discovery, and court filings.

Qualifications
3-5+ years of litigation paralegal experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of California civil litigation procedures and court rules.
Experience supporting complex litigation matters from filing through trial.
Proven experience drafting litigation documents, discovery, subpoenas, and deposition notices.
Strong understanding of calendaring, procedural deadlines, and case management.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
Professional demeanor when interacting with clients, attorneys, courts, and outside parties.

Preferred Experience
Plaintiff-side litigation experience.
High-exposure or complex civil litigation matters.
Trial preparation and courtroom support.
Experience supervising or mentoring support staff.
