Position: Legal Secretary / Legal Assistant Location: Downtown Houston Parking: Free parking provided Schedule: 100% onsite Hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (flexible: 7:00 AM 4:00 PM) Pay Rate: Up to $33.65/hour Contract Duration: Temp role, but potential to go perm if this person performs well.
Key Responsibilities
Manage calendaring and e-filing for assigned
team/docket, including deadlines, hearings, depositions, and client
meetings
Handle state and federal e-filing,
including Pro-Doc and PACER systems
Maintain and organize electronic files, including
archiving for active and closed cases
Coordinate depositions, hearings, meetings, and
communications with clients, courts, and vendors
Assist attorneys with preparation for
depositions, hearings, and trial
Draft, proofread, and edit legal documents
(pleadings, discovery, correspondence)
Prepare exhibits, manage document production,
Bates labeling, and logs
Handle FOIA/Open Records requests as needed
Process attorney expense reimbursements
Troubleshoot basic technical issues and
coordinate with IT as needed
Qualifications
2+ years of legal support experience (civil
litigation preferred)
Experience with EEOC and TWC portals strongly
preferred
Strong experience with calendaring and
e-filing (state & federal)
Proficiency in MS Office 365, Adobe Pro, Zoom
Experience with Pro-Doc and PACER
preferred
Strong organizational skills with high attention
to detail
Ability to work independently on routine tasks
while contributing to a team
