Position Summary
We are seeking a Legal Partnerships Development Associate to support the growth of our legal partnerships team. This role will work closely with the Legal Partnerships Manager and VP of Legal Partnerships to identify, research, and engage prospective law firms and build a consistent pipeline of new business opportunities.
This is a hunter/research-oriented business development role. You will be responsible for finding potential law firm partners through a variety of channels, initiating outreach, developing relationships, maintaining consistent follow-up, and identifying qualified opportunities for the senior partnerships team to pursue and close.
The ideal candidate is persistent, resourceful, highly organized, and comfortable conducting research and outbound outreach. You should enjoy finding opportunities that others may overlook and turning initial contacts into meaningful business conversations.
What You'll Actually Do
- Research and identify law firms that could be potential partners and buyers.
- Build and maintain a database of qualified law firm prospects.
- Identify key decision-makers and relevant contacts within target firms.
- Conduct proactive outreach through email, phone, LinkedIn, and other channels.
- Develop initial relationships and determine the firm's needs, interests, and potential fit.
- Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects throughout the business development process.
- Keep the CRM accurate and up to date with prospect information, activity, and next steps.
- Qualify opportunities and determine which prospects should be advanced to the senior partnerships team.
- Schedule meetings between qualified prospects and the Legal Partnerships Manager or VP of Legal Partnerships.
- Monitor prospects and accounts for new opportunities, litigation activity, and other relevant developments.
- Research new torts, practice areas, firms, and potential partnership opportunities.
- Support the Legal Partnerships team with market research, prospect lists, conference preparation, and follow-up.
- Track outreach activity, meetings, opportunities, and pipeline progression.
- Continuously develop new methods and sources for identifying prospective law firm partners.
Success Looks Like
In the first six months, success will include:
- A consistently growing pipeline of qualified law firm prospects.
- Increased meetings between prospective firms and the senior partnerships team.
- Strong, consistent prospect follow-up and CRM discipline.
- New law firms entering the business development pipeline each month.
- Identification of new firms, markets, and tort opportunities.
- A reliable process for researching, identifying, contacting, and qualifying prospective partners.
- Meaningful contribution to new business opportunities and ultimately new law firm relationships.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in business development, sales development, lead generation, research, partnerships in the legal, legal marketing, lead generation, advertising, or professional services industries.
- Strong research and prospecting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct proactive outbound outreach.
- Highly organized with excellent follow-up and pipeline management skills.
- Comfortable making phone calls and communicating with senior-level business contacts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using a CRM to manage prospects and follow-up activity.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
- Persistent and resourceful when identifying and reaching prospective clients or partners.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prospects and priorities simultaneously.
