Full-service Texas firm seeking Two Legal Assistants for their Houston officeThese are hybrid roles with a combination of secretarial and paralegal responsibilities. The firm provides a very collaborative and team-oriented environment.

 

Schedule: 100% in office

Hours: 8am-5pm

Key Responsibilities/Details
  • The docket they will be working on is primarily a commercial litigation docket with a little oil and gas and bankruptcy
  • They will be billing their time (if they do not have billing experience, they will train on that)
  • These are large voluminous cases
  • Schedule and coordinate depositions, court reporters, and videographers.
  • Input information into time and billing, customer relationship management, and document management systems
  • Draft, type, format, and revise many different types of legal, agency, and business documents.
  • Assist with discovery responses
  • Calendar deadlines from incoming mail, pleadings, and hearings
  • E-file in state and federal courts and make service on opposing parties.
  • Maintain files and indexes.
  • Schedule appointments, receive and make telephone calls, open and sort mail, make travel arrangements, and perform other administrative duties.
  • Maintain privacy rules by not revealing information other than to the appropriate parties involved in a legal action.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

·         5+ years litigation experience . Bachelor’s degree a plus. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

·         Proficient with local, state, and federal filing rules, elementary legal procedures, and legal and business terminology.

·         Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Familiar with any enterprise time and billing system, preferably Emburse and iTimeKeep.

·         Familiar with any customer relationship management system.

·         Familiar with any document management system, preferably iManage.

·         Proficient with transcription equipment and able to transcribe.

·         Detail oriented and able to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure.

·         Professional, polite, and positive client-centric attitude.
