Our law firm is seeking a dynamic Legal Assistant to join our team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our legal proceedings and requires a candidate who is not only proficient in a variety of legal procedures and protocols, but also comfortable in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. The position requires 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative and case support to attorneys across multiple practice groups.
2. Prepare, file, and serve pleadings, motions, and other documents in NY State and federal court.
3. E-file via NYSCEF, PACER, CM/ECF, and bankruptcy court systems.
4. Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and other court-related activities.
5. Assist with discovery, including tracking deadlines and organizing document productions.
6. Ensure compliance with all court rules and regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.
7. Manage attorney calendars, including tracking deadlines and scheduling appointments.
8. Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
9. Assist with federal court attorney admissions as needed.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Paralegal, or similar role in a law firm or legal department.
2. Proficiency in e-filing systems such as NYSCEF, CM/ECF, and PACER.
3. Familiarity with legal documentation and terminology, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
4. Strong knowledge of court rules and procedures.
5. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff and clients.
7. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
8. Proficiency in legal research and the ability to assist in the preparation for trials and court proceedings.
9. Experience in calendaring and coordinating depositions, hearings, and other court-related activities.
10. High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or equivalent experience preferred.
