JOB DESCRIPTION

Everforth Apex Systems is seeking a highly technical and business-oriented Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to embed directly with business and technology teams and accelerate the development of next-generation agentic applications, conversational analytics experiences, and AI-powered workflows.

This role sits at the intersection of data products, Unity Catalog governance, ontology design, AI agents, and application engineering. The engineer will transform our client's governed data ecosystem into reusable agent-ready capabilities by developing patterns, frameworks, and applications that leverage a unified enterprise ontology.

Rather than building one-off solutions, this role is responsible for creating reusable architectures and implementation patterns that enable teams across the organization to rapidly deploy governed applications, digital assistants, analytics experiences, and autonomous workflows.

RESPONSIBLITIES

Build Agentic Solutions on Ontology Layer

• Design and implement AI agents that operate against governed enterprise data products.
• Develop reusable agent orchestration patterns using Unity Catalog metadata, business semantics, lineage, and governance controls.
• Create agent frameworks that support planning, reasoning, retrieval, action execution, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
• Define standards for how agents discover, understand, and consume enterprise context.

Develop AI-Powered Applications

• Build user-facing applications that combine conversational interfaces, enterprise knowledge, and governed data.
• Create self-service experiences that allow business users to interact with enterprise data through natural language.
• Develop new interaction patterns that reduce friction between users and data.
• Embed AI-powered decision support directly into workflows.

Extend and Operationalize the Enterprise Ontology

• Translate business domains into machine-readable concepts, relationships, policies, and business rules.
• Collaborate with data product teams to ensure assets are agent-addressable and semantically enriched.
• Define reusable ontology-driven patterns that can be adopted across multiple domains.
• Partner with governance teams to ensure semantic consistency and compliance.

Accelerate Cross-Functional Delivery

• Work directly with business stakeholders, architects, data engineers, and AI teams.
• Rapidly prototype and validate new solutions with end users.
• Identify emerging use cases and convert them into scalable platform capabilities.
• Operate as a technical leader capable of moving between strategy, architecture, and hands-on engineering.

Create Reusable Frameworks

• Establish reference architectures for:
• Agentic workflows
• Semantic applications
• Research agents
• Knowledge graph integration
• Conversational analytics
• Multi-agent systems
• Human-in-the-loop governance
• Package successful implementations into repeatable patterns that can be reused globally.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 7+ years of software engineering, data engineering, or platform engineering experience.
• Experience building enterprise-grade applications using Python, TypeScript, Java, or similar technologies.
• Strong experience with Databricks, AWS, and Snowflake. Databricks certifications required.
• Deep understanding of:
• Semantic layers
• Metadata management
• Knowledge graphs
• Ontologies
• Data governance
• Enterprise APIs
• Experience building AI-powered applications or agentic systems.
• Understanding of:
• LLM architectures
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• GraphRAG
• Agent frameworks
• MCP protocols
• Vector search
• Enterprise search patterns
• Experience designing context engineering strategies and agent memory architectures.
• Familiarity with observability, evaluation, and governance of AI systems.
• Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate ambiguous opportunities into production solutions.
• Experience driving outcomes across multiple business domains.
• Strong communication and consulting skills.
