Law Clerk II - Washington, DC (Remote/Hybrid)
Duration: 12+ months
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Conduct complex legal research and prepare draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and memoranda of law.
- Review documents for relevance and privilege and assist attorneys with all phases of litigation.
- Act independently or as a team leader on larger projects.
- Serve as a primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and other staff.
- Analyze relevant policy and legislative initiatives, prepare written work products, and make effective recommendations.
- Support and implement policy and guidelines for programs and processes.
- Oversee practice areas including immigration, civil, criminal, and other program areas.
- Brief attorneys on pertinent facts, issues, and case law, and draft correspondence and legal documents.
Required Skills:
- Substantive legal practice experience with courtroom experience as a plus.
- Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
- Ability to make responsible decisions on short notice and adapt to unexpected developments.
- Working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure.
Education:
- Law degree (J.D.), License by a state bar (Preferred)
