Law Clerk I - Washington, DC
Duration: 12 months (Onsite)
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research on statutes, regulations, case law, and legal authorities
- Perform statutory analysis and support appellate attorneys and litigation teams
- Assist with preparation, organization, and review of appellate briefs
- Perform citation checking and ensure Bluebook compliance
- Review briefs for formatting, accuracy, and quality control
- Use LexisNexis and internal resources for research and citation review
- Support attorneys with legal analysis and authority validation
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
- Strong legal research skills and ability to validate legal authorities
- Proficiency with citation review and Bluebook formatting
- Academic legal training and familiarity with appellate practice
- Strong attention to detail and quality control skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting brief preparation and appellate litigation work
Education:
- Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed
