Kitchen Assistant

Assist Food Service Supervisor to ensure work area is in good order before shift ends including tear down, cleaning and reassembling of dishwasher, ovens emptied and wiped out, sinks drained and cleaned, spice containers, shelves, and countertops wiped and pots, pans and serving utensils in proper location so kitchen is meal ready. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for the majority of the work day, regularly walking, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.

The kitchen assistant will assist with planning and preparing meals, kitchen cleanliness, food preparation documentation, and cleanup of the kitchen approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Communicate with the Business and Operations Manager in coordination of meal preparation and serving at both Bishop Dudley Hospitality House and Center for Families locations.

• Assist in putting away supplies, documents and properly store donations.

• Strictly adhere to menus/recipes for every meal

• Keep a calm and pleasant demeanor while assisting with multiple volunteers in dish washing duties, equipment operation and preparation, serving and cleanup of meals.

• Knowledge and adherence to proper food handling, preparation, serving and storage.

• This will include but not limited to prep area, equipment, sweeping and mopping floors in the kitchen and washing and folding laundry.

• Alert Business and Operations Manager of supplies needed and improperly working equipment.

• Perform other duties as needed.
