Are you an experienced and dynamic attorney with a passion for insurance defense? We are currently seeking a Permanent Insurance Defense Attorney who will represent the company and its policyholders in civil litigation matters involving claims for money damages or compensation for personal injury or property damage. Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Insurance Defense Attorney, you will be responsible for:
1. Handling a caseload of primarily auto liability, no-fault, and general liability cases from inception through trial.
2. Preparing pleadings, motions, and briefs as required.
3. Conducting discovery, including drafting discovery demands and responses, conducting depositions, and preparing for and attending court appearances.
4. Regularly communicating with clients, claim professionals, underwriting, risk management and senior staff.
5. Conducting legal research and analysis of law sources such as statutes, legal articles, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, etc.
6. Representing the company at legal, regulatory, and other proceedings or meetings.
7. Managing case files and develop case strategy to properly manage cases in a timely manner.
8. Negotiating settlements on behalf of the company and its policyholders.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Permanent Insurance Defense Attorney position will have the following qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Admission to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
3. 1-5 years of experience in general liability, auto liability, no-fault, or other insurance defense
4. Proficiency in drafting pleadings, motions, and summary judgments.
5. Strong experience in case management, including managing a large caseload.
6. Excellent communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
7. Ability to work independently and also collaborate effectively as part of a team.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions and resolve issues.
9. Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
10. High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
