The Food & Beverage Director (Lead Food & Drink Enthusiast) is responsible for the strategic leadership, financial performance, and operational excellence of all food and beverage outlets. This role drives revenue growth, elevates guest satisfaction, and ensures innovative, high‑quality offerings that reflect both the Canopy brand and the vibrant Grand Rapids community. You’ll lead a passionate team, oversee menu development, manage budgets and inventory, and ensure every guest interaction reflects our commitment to exceptional hospitality.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
all food and beverage outlets.
Uses expertise to develop and implement changes to food and beverage operations based on sales and guest comments; i.e. promotions, advertising, trends and capitalization of revenue opportunities.
Develop Menus for the Restaurant and Rooftop Bar.
Tracks return on investments.
Responsible for management of expenses to maximize hotel profitability.
Responsible for effective labor management through proper scheduling, monitoring, and adjusting based on business needs.
Follows procurement guidelines and applies good business judgment.
Assists with the preparation and management of the department budget.
Manages and maintains company assets to stay within budget guidelines and prolong the life of company resources.
Accountable for guest satisfaction by ensuring food and beverage service standards are met and guests’ needs are responded to in a timely manner.
Resolves guests’ complaints in courteous and friendly manner, focuses on service recovery when applicable.
Works side by side with staff to train and model appropriate guest service standards.
Responsible for training all employees and ensuring training records are maintained.
Analyzes quality issues, identifies training needs and ensures implementation to improve results.
Utilizes available resources and adheres to training policies.
Ensures all Lodgco, brand, and department specific training requirements are met.
Conduct routine inspections of food and beverage operations to maintain quality food, beverage and kitchen/restaurant standards, brand, local, state and federal regulations.
Ensures a clean and safe work environment, and follows all Lodgco procedures for guest/employee incidents.
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, coaching, and development of all employees.
Evaluates staff performance and takes appropriate corrective action as needed to hold employees accountable.
Motivates staff by setting goals, providing ongoing feedback, and rewarding/recognizing employees.
Responsible for effective self/workload management.
Demonstrates clear written and verbal communication skills.
Promotes collaboration and positive, professional work environment.
Attends all daily, weekly and/or monthly department/hotel meetings to ensure proper communication/planning occurs.
Adheres to all Lodgco Standard Operating Procedures.

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record – satisfactory criminal background screening required – professional references from the hospitality industry.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITY
This position manages all Food & Beverage employees of the hotel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate, listen, stand for long periods of time, ability to walk, kneel, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.

This position requires variable hours based on the needs of the hotel.
