Description

Overview: To deliver excellent patient centered service in a medical office setting by scheduling patient appointments, collecting co-payments / pre-payments / other payments, reviewing patient balances, entering charges promptly and accurately, processing referrals, and maintaining a comfortable wait experience for patients based on practice protocols and UF Health Physicians policies and procedures. Greets patients professionally and provides a patient friendly point of entry and / or exit. May be required to float to other practices or flex time, as needed, for staffing. Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and other patient financial responsibilities.
  • Review patient account balances and communicate financial information professionally and compassionately.
  • Enter charges accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Process referrals and related documentation.
  • Greet and assist patients in a professional, courteous, and patient-focused manner.
  • Serve as a welcoming point of entry and exit for patients and visitors.
  • Maintain a comfortable, efficient, and positive waiting room experience.
  • Adhere to practice protocols and UF Health Physicians policies and procedures.
  • May be required to float to other practice locations or work flexible schedules as needed to support staffing and operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when interacting with patients, families, and staff.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a financial, business, physician office, or customer service environment required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a business, financial, or physician practice setting preferred.
  • Experience validating patient demographics and insurance information is required.
  • An associate degree or equivalent coursework may substitute for the required one (1) year of experience.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and telephone communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of CPT and diagnosis coding is preferred.
  • Ability to collect patient payments professionally and courteously.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation

  • No motor vehicle operation is required for this position.
